Unpaid Research Internship

The Education Commission of the States (ECS) has ongoing opportunities for unpaid internships. We feel it is important to mentor dynamic, motivated individuals and give them a chance to learn more about education policy and policy research.

Primary responsibilities would be to synthesize journal articles and research studies; conduct policy research and analysis; and write brief pieces for our Web site. Other opportunities include writing for other ECS publications and doing research for special projects.

Although internships are unpaid, interns often access internal and external meetings, and have opportunities to work and learn from some of the most experienced individuals in the education policy field. Flex-time is available to accommodate school/work schedules. The ECS office is conveniently located close to downtown Denver on several major RTD bus routes.

ECS is looking for graduate-level students with strong research and writing skills. To receive the maximum learning experience we ask for a commitment of 15-20 hours a week within normal work hours at the ECS office (the schedule can be flexible) with a minimum of 200 hours total. We prefer experience in policy research web tools (Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw) and students holding an undergraduate degree or pursuing an advanced degree in public policy, public administration, education, law, English, languages or political science.

Pay : Unpaid Internship
Location: Denver, Colorado

If you are interested in applying for an internship at ECS, please send a cover letter and resume to Antionette Garcia at agarcia@ecs.org.
