Welcome to the ECS State Policies for School Choice Database!

This database contains information about the state policies for school choice in each state. “School choice” as a descriptor takes on several meanings, and narrow use of the word (e.g., assuming that school choice equals only open enrollment or vouchers) often confuses the debate about school choice. In this database, we use “school choice” as a broad descriptor covering many different ideas, including open enrollment, charter schools, vouchers, tax credits and tax deductions and dual/concurrent enrollment.

From this database, you can generate profiles of the state policies for school choice in individual states, create comparisons of specific types of state policies for school choice across several states and view predetermined reports on state policies for school choice.

Please contact us with questions or comments about the database.
