Due to a number of factors, minorities frequently face additional challenges in attaining a quality education, an issue of growing importance for both the success of individuals in today's economy and for the future competitiveness of the nation in the global economy. As the United States becomes an increasingly diverse country in the coming decades, ensuring the equitable and effective education of every student will become more vital than ever. This issue Site contains information relating to K-12 minority student issues generally. State efforts and reports focused on particular subgroups can be found on the specific African American, American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian, and Hispanic breakout sites contained within the ECS website.
