2:00 PM -- 5:00 PM Understanding Education Research Florida III This mini-course will help you to become more familiar with key terms and concepts in education research, and learn to use education research as a tool for policy decisions. This course will be highly interactive and limited in enrollment. It will be taught by Patricia Lauer, principal researcher at Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (MCREL) and author of the new ECS/MCREL, Policymaker's Primer on Education Research (see online at http://www.ecs.org/researchprimer).

4:00 PM -- 5:00 PM Putting a Face on No Child Left Behind Plaza G As a recent chief state school officer having the responsibility of implementing NCLB in a state, and now as assistant secretary of education overseeing NCLB implementation in all 50 states and territories, Raymond Simon will put a face on the challenges and potential of NCLB as states and districts respond to the legislation. ECS President Ted Sanders will introduce Simon.
