Richard Newman Education program officer, The Wallace Foundation Rich Newman is a program officer in education at The Wallace Foundation, where he helps lead the Foundation's State Action for Education Leadership Project (SAELP) and Leadership for Educational Achievement in Districts (LEAD) initiatives. His work focuses on helping states and districts improve both the development of education leaders and the systemic conditions in which they work in order to improve student learning, especially for those children with the greatest need. Prior to joining the foundation, Newman was a research associate at the University of San Diego. His current research focuses on understanding the leader training components that impact an aspiring leader's beliefs and ways of thinking and examining how new knowledge and skills transfer into effective leadership action. He also spent ten years as a teacher and teacher coach and was one of the early Teach for America Corps members. View sessions with Richard Newman |
