 | Lan W. Neugent Assistant superintendent for technology, Virginia Department of Education, Virginia Lan W. Neugent is assistant superintendent for technology and human resources at the Virginia Department of Education. He is responsible for establishing direction for state educational technology policy and for carrying out both gubernatorial and legislative initiatives. He came to Virginia as director of instructional media and training after having been a secondary teacher, a high school assistant principal, an international manager of proposal development and a community college administrator. Neugent has nearly 35 years of experience at the classroom, district, college and state level.
