National Center for Learning and Civic Engagement Board

The NCLCE is governed by an executive board that includes chief state school officers, district superintendents, and representatives from policy and community-based organizations across the country. The Board meets a minimum of two times each year.

With more than 40 years of work in education in Washington and Alaska to her credit, Dr. Barnes retired in 2014 from her most recent role as Superintendent and CEO of ESD 112, Vancouver, Washington. She has been a member of the NCLCE Board since 2011 and in retirement she balances her time between volunteering in several local schools and international travel.
