Joshua Ruiz joined Education Commission of the States in June 2018 as the senior accountant. In his role, Joshua develops and maintains accurate grant/contract budgets and financial reports, assures compliance with federal grant management requirements, coordinates the month-end close and performs other accounting duties. Prior, he was an auditor for a CPA firm in California that was ranked among the top 100 firms in the nation, where he audited federal programs, state programs, bonds, internal controls and financials for school districts, charters and not-for-profits in multiple states. He is currently licensed as a CPA in California. When he is not working with numbers, Josh enjoys hiking, painting, eating Thai food and snowboarding with his fiancée.
