The Common Core's strengths: it reflects college and career readiness, is research- and evidence-based, is internationally benchmarked and is focused, coherent and rigorous. To enhance success of the Core, collaborations between K-12 and higher education must be forged. These include dual enrollment, opportunities for high school and higher education faculty to work toward greater alignment, and engagement of business and economic development professionals in identifying high-demand career pathways.
