State Information Request: Using Summer Learning Opportunities to Address Unfinished Learning

A member of the national media asked about state policies that encourage or allow for summer learning opportunities, in an effort to address unfinished learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our response includes legislative examples from six states, in addition to examples of other state guidance and directives from governors. The response also shares how some states plan to use federal relief funding to support these types of learning opportunities.

For information on other strategies states are using to address interrupted instruction, see this State Information Request.

For examples of states considering investment in high-impact tutoring programs to address unfinished learning, see this State Information Request.
