Centering Student Voices to Transform Educational Systems

The recent unrest in response to the pandemic and inequitable social practices has led states to rethink their approaches to educational progress. Including the voices of people who are directly affected by policy and funding actions in their communities can provide valuable perspective as to what is needed to support equitable growth.

As such, the Arts Education Partnership asked students to describe their aspirations and what is important to them as they experience policy and classroom shifts as a result of COVID-19 and social movements concerning inequity. What AEP heard included suggestions to elevate student leadership and include families and communities in learning spaces.
