A state superintendent of instruction asked for information on states that have history curriculum requirements that include culturally competent information, particularly with regard to African American history. Our response includes examples of recent legislation on both history standards/curriculum requirements and on cultural competency. To provide timely assistance to our constituents, State Information Requests are typically completed in 48 hours. They reflect an issue scan versus a comprehensive analysis.
