State Information Request: Third Grade Reading Retention Policies and Interventions (archive)

A staff member at a governor’s office asked for information about which states have third grade reading laws and about what other early childhood, kindergarten and support services are in place in those states. Our response included information about states with existing third grade retention policies, as well as information about interventions for struggling students. To provide timely assistance to our constituents, State Information Requests are typically completed in 48 hours. They reflect an issue scan versus a comprehensive analysis.
