State Information Request: Trends in Student Mental Health

A governor’s policy advisor asked for more information on national and state trends related to student behavioral health, suicide prevention and childhood trauma, in light of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our response includes a summary of how states have approached behavioral health, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed practices in recent years, including examples of recently enacted state legislation. 

To provide timely assistance to our constituents, State Information Requests are typically completed in 48 hours. They reflect an issues can versus a comprehensive analysis.
